Faux News

Every now and then I find myself turning on the Fox News channel. Now the fact that it is more for entertainment purposes than general informative news reports, is something very very wrong. I often like to laugh at Bill O'Reilly's blatant ignorant right winged ideologies, thinking how can any one intelligent human being take this guy serious!? But apparently America is filled with like minded douchebags, so it kinda makes sense.

A fair and balanced news channel, should be fair and balanced, offering both viewpoints, not just using the airtime to promote their certain social or political agenda.

Kanye West - Stronger @ The 2008 Grammys

Whoa. Speechless. Powerful, Theatrical and Emotional.

Just like I predicted, the Glow In The Dark Tour looks amazing. I guess I will find out for myself this Saturday.

Too bad for those that missed out on tickets, as this will be his only performance while he is in the country. Yes, there will be no sideshows...Until then you will have to step your youtube game up.

On another positive note also congratulations to Kanye for his Grammy awards.

Rap Solo Performance: "Stronger"

Rap Performance by a Duo or Group: "Southside," Common, featuring Kanye West

American Gangster Meets Scarface

Inspired by the narratives of Jay-Z's 'American Gangster' album, I was somehow reminded of the story of that fictional 80's Cuban gangsta, Tony Montana, aka Scarface.

In both pieces, there are basically 3 parts to the the story.
  • The Rise
  • The High Life
  • The Demise

So basically I got to work and created videoclips for Pray, Roc Boys & Fallin', using various visuals from the movie Scarface that represent the ideas and emotions being relayed through the songs.

Enjoy.

Gangstalicious' Greatest Hits

Now Boondocks is hands down one of the funniest shows on TV. It connects on so many levels. But the best example is how it analyses and critiques popular culture, breaking down the lines between race and gender through satirical comedy. Adam McGruder is a genius.

Gangstalicious is the shows resident 'gangsta' rapper. Voiced by rapper Mos Def, he represents the fickle and manufactured personas that are found in most contemporary 'gangsta' rappers.

Flashing Lights!!

Kanye West has always been recognized for his stellar performances, full of energy and innovation, for example 2006's Late Registration tour, which was accompanied by a full orchestra and string section. Mr West has a penchant for bringing a special something else to hip hop tours apart from the usual 'gangsta-licious' type performances.

Well after reading A-Trak's recent blog on the upcoming 'Glow In The Dark Tour', I came to the conclusion that West is at the front of the avant guard for the genre, pushing the envelope in terms of creativity, style and experimentation. (ie; his recent collaboration with top Japanese 'Superflat' artist Takashi Murakami for the album packaging on Graduation is light years ahead of the game.

It will be awesome to see the technical side of the show and how it fits into his recent electro-synth heavy sound....
